Our achievements

Our boats have been put to the test in all conditions all over the world, from the Mekong in Southeast Asia to the treacherous waters of Patagonia and Cape Horn. Chasing the horizon in the RibEx Worldwide Expeditions (ribexpedition.net), where navigation with regular vessels is impossible, is one of our research and development techniques. What we learn out in the wild is often incorporated into boat design and construction.

2003

Two centuries after Alexander von Humboldt's iconic South American expeditions, an eight-person team retraced his steps, connecting the Amazon and Orinoco Rivers. Departing from Puerto Ayacucho, Venezuelc team navigated specialized inflatables for over 3,000 kilometers through Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. Journalist Karl-Heinz Eiferle and cameraman Carles Perez documented this historic journey.

2005

The Mekong, a vital Southeast Asian river, flows 4,500 kilometers from Tibet to the South China Sea, spanning six nations. For many years, its challenging terrain thwarted commercial navigation, but our historic 2005 expedition revealed the river's unspoiled, changing beauty. AB Inflatables took Ist place in the TFAS Quarry piloting a 28 VST equipped with two Mercury 250hp racing engines.

2009

In September 2009, an international team led by swiss boating expert Andy Leemann journeyed 2,500 kilometers down the Ganges River on an expedition that spanned treacherous sections of river. Multimedia coverage helped raise awareness of India and Bangladesh's biodiversity, culture and sustainable tourism, with the goal of inspiring global engagement and environmental preservation.

2010

In October 2010, our international team explored the entire 3,000-kilometer Tsangpo-Brahmaputra, one of the world's most challenging rivers. Using a combination of trekking and boats from AB Inflatables, we aimed to raise awareness for regional biodiversity, tourism and sustainable development, with extensive media coverage designed to highlight the river's cultural, geological and environmental significance.

2011

In 2011, we set out in three AB Lammina 14 AL Superlight RIBs on an expedition to raise global awareness of India's neglected rivers, focusing on ecology, culture and communities along their banks. The journey began in mid-September at Fulhar Jheel, traversing the scenic Gomti and Ganges Rivers before ending in Benares. It was an experience packed with incredible local interactions and riverside camping.

2012

From October 21 to November 5, 2012, we navigated the Kaladan River's 1,200km route from India's Mizoram to Myanmar's Bay of Bengal using durable RIBs from AB Inflatables. As the first full-length voyage of this river post-1946, our expedition was designed to highlight India-Myanmar ties, local ethnic cultures, and promote sustainability through community visits.

2013

The 2013 Yukon River Expedition covered 1,790 km from Whitehorse, Canada, to Emmonak, Alaska. We navigated three AB Inflatables 1 AL boats through rugged terrain, including Lake Laberge, Dawson City, Fort Yukon and Eagle, stopping at villages and historic sites along the way to learn about local culture and ecology.

2016

In 2016, we piloted two AB Inflatables - a 24 VST and 28 VST - through the famously treacherous waters of Patagonia and Cape Horn. The journey took 28 days and covered some 3,500 km. The goal of this expedition was to raise awareness of Patagonia's beauty and the impact of climate change, and highlights of the journey included the San Rafael Glacier, Quitralco Fjord, Messier Canal and majestic Cape Horn.

2018

For the Ascending South America Expedition, we set out in three AB Inflatables 14 AL boats to navigate 6,500 km of South American rivers, from Buenos Aires to Manaus. This unprecedented journey highlighted environmental issues, cultural diversity and the breathtaking beauty of the region, with a team documenting the impact of climate change and human activities on the rivers and their communities.
